Pretty much once you meet your soulmate everything else falls into place…
Or something like that. πŸ˜‰
Domonique is 24. & I’m 21.
My wife & I are in the process of reciprocal IVF.
Which means we’re using her eggs & I’ll be carrying the liddo tots. πŸ™‚
Like most insurances, our does not cover the procedure. -_-
So we will be paying ENTIRELY out of pocket.
We’re determined to have twins. πŸ™‚
For sure the most EXCITING experience evaaa!

Wow, that is awesome. We are TTC with me carrying and her brother as my donor, so a little similar to your way of doing it I suppose – in that we are trying for a genetic link to both of us.

    • HER bun MY oven August 9, 2013 at 6:09 am #

Yes, definitely similar! πŸ™‚ We had considered using my brother but being I’ll be carrying even though its her egg we still felt a little weird about that. Lol. Well, great luck!! We hope all goes well!!

Hello! I just came across your blog and I’ve felt so many mixed emotions reading your posts. Overall though, i must say that I am very impressed and inspired by you ladies! My wife and I have recently decided to start a family and reciprocal IVF is exactly what we want to do (her eggs, I carry). I just don’t know where to begin!!! I sent a msg to my doctor today and am awaiting a response. I saw that you all live in California as well. I’m also a Kaiser member (and employee) and though we do have infertility coverage (iui) we do not have IVF coverage. It sounds as though your IVF clinic is flexible and is working with your situation. Would you mind sharing information with me to set me in the right direction? Any info would mean so much to me!! Thank you! And congratulations on your pregnancy! I’m so inspired I’m going to keep following your blog!

Thaaank you!! & congrats on you two starting your family. That’s sooo exciting. πŸ™‚ we have kaiser as well so we are considering IUI with the same sperm donor and my eggs after we have our first baby. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I would start talking to them as well if that’s something you’re interested in, even though they won’t come in handy for this first cycle since you are doing reciprocal as well, they usually require at least a year of “trying” or three consecutive miscarriages to be REFERRED to their infertility clinic which is how you would get the IUI covered i think. (I’m not sure exactly how all that works but just something to think about) You can however just set up an appointment with their fertility clinic to do things such as IVF which was our first step however they’re priced pretty high and we didn’t quite like the vibe there. : / I’m not sure where you guys are located but we’re in the Bay Area so we had went to the Fremont Kaiser reproductive center. Our clinic is AMAZING, they’re pretty small which is great because it makes things super personable. We too paid fully out of pocket and they’re very upfront & clear on any fees you will/may be charged. If you’re interested the name is Bay IVF, they are located in Palo Alto and are actually on the lower end cost wise. They’re also offering refund programs which they didn’t have when we started!! I would definitely suggest looking into those since obviously more than one cycle may be needed! The receptionist name is Julie, she’s super sweet and will answer all one million of your questions, I called a ton when we first started. Hope this helps some!! Good luck.

You ladies were the inspiration for us to start our blog AND our journey! I thank you sooo much for sharing your story with the world. I’m sure there are many people like my wife & I who were lost before coming across your pg. I’m sorry our blog names are pretty close but all the other witty ones were taken (most related to surrogacy) and if I didn’t start blogging now I probably would have become known as the stalker behind zenun8086 lol. Thank you again πŸ™‚ I’m closing that act as soon as I can. Take care and we look forward to your next update!

I just want to say reading your blog was one of the most delightful things I have done for myself in a while. Me and my fiance talk and hope to soon be parents one day soon. It’s just alot to think and plan and save for. I wanted to know how did you start? What questions did you ask your doctor? Insurance company? We plan on having a baby early in the next year wish us luck!

Im glad you enjoyed it. πŸ™‚ We always kinda knew that i would carry her child. Even though Domonique has always REALLY wanted children she’s never wanted to physically carry a child & that’s an experience i wouldnt wanna miss out on. πŸ™‚ & we wanted for us both to feel/be as physically & emotionally involved as possible which is why we chose reciprocal IVF. So that part was easy for us. We both have Kaiser so i called to see if anything was covered. But they only cover IUI. We had a consult at Kaiser & they were super expensive. So we started researching into clinics & found one that we loved and since we were paying fully out of pocket they were pretty inexpensive as well. We checked yelp too & after we had a consult with the clinic we just loved their vibe so we went with them. I honestly cant even remembered all the questions i asked. I would literally call like everyday asking new questions & luckily our clinic was really nice and didnt mind answering. πŸ™‚ GOOD LUCK!!
